The Midcentury Modern home at the core of this project is a quintessential Southern California type dominated by its gently sloping post-and beam roof. Our challenge was to reconfigure the floor plan within the fragile existing structure, and add a new kitchen, family room and garage. The roof shapes were developed to maximize views to adjacent hill sides and tie the new in with the existing without breaking the strong form we were given.
